A blackout in a museum is not just a lack of light
A power outage can stop fire and security systems, environmental monitoring, access control, communication, and safe HVAC shutdown. The audit identifies critical loads, backup time, and recovery procedure.
Tests are conducted within the agreed scope — without risk to collections and without publishing protection plans.
Systems requiring a common scenario
- FAS and fire-fighting equipment
- Intruder alarm systems, access control, and CCTV
- Temperature, humidity, and flood monitoring
- Emergency and escape lighting
- Servers, network, and communication
- Controlled HVAC sustainment or shutdown
- Pumps, lifts, and technical equipment by priority
- Security stations and equipment charging points

Heritage Buildings
Modernisation of installations in a heritage building requires coordination with those responsible for heritage protection, fire safety, collection protection, and the project. Routes, equipment, and testing methods cannot be chosen as in a typical office building.
Information security
We do not publish protection plans, system locations, cable routes, or autonomy times for specific facilities. Case studies require consent and anonymisation.
Basis and Recommendations
The OLiOC Act covers the protection of cultural assets; the content is agreed upon with the recommendations of the National Institute of Museums and heritage protection documents.
Questions and Answers
Is a power outage test safe for collections?
The test is conducted within an agreed scope and scenario: with system protection, outside visiting hours, and with the consent of those responsible for the collections. Part of the verification can be performed without a full shutdown.
Does the audit cover fire systems?
We cover the power supply for SAP and fire-fighting equipment within the scope of the electrical industry — in coordination with the service of these systems and a fire expert, without interfering with their configuration.
Can the report be included in the crisis manual?
Yes — a technical appendix to the manual is part of the outcome: critical acceptances, hold-up times, shutdown and recovery procedures, and the scope of disclosure to be decided by the management.
