Lightning protection under control

Lightning protection system measurements with a protocol for the building logbook

Earth resistance, continuity of connections, condition of air terminals and down conductors, and surge protection in the distribution board. We assess the result against the facility's documentation — the protocol is suitable for periodic inspection, for the insurer, and for audit.

The lightning protection system is part of the periodic inspection of a facility under art. 62 Prawo budowlane — at least every 5 years, and additionally after roof work or a lightning strike.

Scope

What we test.

  • Inspection of air terminals, down conductors, and test joints
  • Measurement of earth resistance using a method suited to the system
  • Continuity of connections between system components
  • Condition of surge protective devices (SPDs) in the distribution board
  • Compliance with documentation and protection class (LPS)
  • Protocol with results, assessment, and recommendations
  • Repairs: joints, conductors, earth electrodes — upon acceptance

When to test more frequently than every 5 years?

  • after roof or facade renovation or PV installation,
  • after a recorded discharge or damage,
  • when documentation or LPS class provides for a shorter period.

The PN-EN 62305 series standard recommends more frequent inspections than the statutory minimum for higher protection classes.

Process

Measurement is more than just a single number.

  1. DocumentationDesign, LPS class, previous protocols.
  2. InspectionAir terminals, joints, conductor routes, corrosion.
  3. MeasurementsEarth resistance and continuity — joint by joint.
  4. SPDSurge protection in distribution boards.
  5. AssessmentResult against documentation and standard, not a "bare" number.
  6. ProtocolRecommendations, priorities, date of next test.

Proof

What you get after testing.

  • Measurement results per test joint — with location
  • Assessment: compliant / non-compliant / requires improvement — with justification
  • Photos of damage and corrosion, if present
  • Repair recommendations with estimated cost
  • Date of next inspection in our calendar — we will remind you
  • Report prepared for periodic inspection and insurer requirements

Roof, PV, lightning protection — one visit.

After photovoltaic installation or roof work, the lightning protection system requires inspection. We combine lightning protection measurements with an electrical installation inspection.

FAQ

Questions about lightning protection measurements.

How often are lightning protection measurements performed?

At least every 5 years, as part of the periodic technical inspection of the building under Art. 62 of the Building Law. Building documentation or LPS protection class may require more frequent inspections — we check this before the measurement, not after.

What is a "good" earthing resistance?

There is no single universal number — the requirement depends on the earthing system, LPS class, and design documentation. Therefore, in the report, we provide the result along with the required value for your building and an unambiguous assessment.

Is the report sufficient for the insurer?

The report includes the scope, method, results, assessment, and qualifications of the executor — i.e., what insurers and inspections ask for. If the policy specifies additional requirements, we include them in the scope of the inspection.

What determines the price?

Depends on the number of inspection joints and earth electrodes, roof height and accessibility, and whether the inspection is combined with other measurements on the property. After a brief description of the property, we will provide a price range.

B2B Contact

Book lightning protection measurements.

Provide the type of building, number of inspection joints (if known), and whether there has been recent roof work — we will propose a date and scope.

Our principle: results always assessed against documentation — a report that stands up to inspection.
